Live from St Charles, Missouri: Making Art Together

Hello to everyone out there in the do art Nation!

Yesterday was day one of comic book art camp at the St. Charles Missouri Park District. We run programs at the park district here every August, and so coming back is a moment that I get to reflect on how far we’ve come at Do Art and contemplate where we want to go next.

It started as the dream of two comic book artists, promoting their artwork and encouraging others to make art as well.  It’s grown into an organization that does art workshops and creative events all over the country. We’ve inspired and been inspired by thousands of kids and grownups alike, and it has been truly incredible to see the art that they’ve created, and the art that we’ve created together. For us, creativity is more than just an individual pursuit: it is a way to build community and to relate to others.

And we are just getting started! This week we’ll be spending 5 days, 3 hours a day making comics and art with the kids, and I am incredibly excited to see what we all create together!

So get out there this week and let your creativity shine! How are you making art to end the summer? On a high note? Let us know in the comments, and don’t forget to keep creating!
