Hello to everyone out there in the Do Art Nation! We hope you’re having an amazing and creative summer, filled with wacky and spontaneous energy. We’ve been bringing Do Art all across the country this year, and I wanted to take a moment to share one of the ways that we help bring the collaborative and creative Spirit of our workshops to the world around us.

We call them comic book movies! At our comic book workshops, we have the kids make their own comics with pencil and paper while we make a comic together on the whiteboard. This is a truly incredible experience, especially at the end when we review what we have all created together. Last year, we got the idea to take this even further, by recording each one of the panels as a video and having the kids do the voices and sound effects. We then edit these videos together, and post them to our YouTube channel! As a result, you see not only the visual imagery of what we’ve created but also the creativity that the kids put into the voices and acting that they do. Just like with the comics, the result is spontaneous, funny and inspiring.
The comics we create feature our comic book charactersThis That but most of all The Other Thing! The other thing has gotten into some crazy adventures, meeting a cast of unforgettable characters along the way. These are just a few of the comic book movies that we have created this summer:
The Others Thing in The Dragon Train Incident
The Other Thing: THE RESURRECTION!
The Other Thing IN SPAAACE
The Other Thing (and Cupcake) RULE THE WORLD (plus Mars)!
And more comic book movies are on their way! You can see more comic book movies, as well as more about the Do Art Journey on our YouTube channel: Do Art TV. Will be bringing this kind of wacky and exciting energy to libraries and schools all over the country, and we hope that you will take part and share your art and creativity with us.
Do you have a YouTube channel, and what is your YouTube channel about? Let us know in the comments and don’t forget to keep creating!
