Hello to everyone out there in the Do Art nation. We hope your creative projects have been going well, and that you are excited for April because April is POETRY MONTH!
Poetry month is one of my favorite times of year. Not only do we get to experience the flowers in spring, the better weather, the feeling of emerging from a long Midwest Winters hibernation. We get to explore these feelings through poetry: the music of words.
Poetry takes many forms, and like many art forms it is perhaps most fun to explore by just getting your feet wet and dipping right into it. So we are going to start poetry month by reading some awesome poems. By reading poetry aloud, we can experience poetry as the music of words, bringing our own creative expression to recitation, and allowing the thoughts and emotions of the poet, mixed with our own thoughts and emotions to create something truly special.
So take this as your sign from the universe: read some poetry this week! Bonus points if you read it out loud to yourself or in front of others. Let us know what poem you read and how it made you feel. And don’t forget: keep creating!
