Art from Across America: Wacky Drawings from Summer

Hello to everyone out there in the Do Art Nation!

It’s almost time for summer! We hope the school year treated you well, and that you are ready for a season of inspiration and creativity. We’ve been having a blast at some recent School assemblies, including some amazing comic book workshops and schools in Palatine, Illinois. We’re also getting ready to bring our unique, wacky art workshops to libraries all over the country. This year we’ll be bringing our comic book painting and bead art workshops to libraries from California to Massachusetts, Minnesota to Florida.

Drawings of Chet from workshops in Summer 2025. Includes drawing of Chet with Sportacus, Chet inside a banana, and Chet as a rat.

As we prepare for another summer of awesome, wacky drawings, I wanted to share some drawings that kids made last year. One of the warm-up exercises that we do before the workshop begins is that we have kids draw pictures of us in a wacky way, giving kids a ready visual reference to work from as they warm up their imaginations and drawing skills. The results are fascinating: often hilarious, and always inspiring. We like to incorporate some of these drawings into our banners and other workshop materials, sharing the art we receive with others.

How do you share your art with others?  Let us know in the comments, and don’t forget to KEEP CREATING!
