Happy Tuesday, Do Art Nation! 2026 is off to a great start as we plan out a full year of creativity and workshops.
One of the things we look forward to most every year is Free Comic Book Day in May! It’s an incredible celebration of comics, creators, and the fans that make it all possible. As we always say, comics are the perfect mode of expression to build literacy, emotional intelligence, and empathy in readers of all ages.

And so, every Free Comic Book Day, we celebrate comics and audiences alike by giving away comics for FREE to libraries and other partner organizations! Last year we shared our creation “Making Comics with Mr. Jerry,” as we explored creativity through the lens of a comic book workshop performer. In that comic we also introduced our erasers and friends This, That, and The Other Thing.
These three seemingly-innocent fluffballs have become the stars of the show as kids from around the country have used them to create their own comics. We’ll be sharing more stories of The Other Thing as the year progresses. They’ve been an amazing vehicle for kids to tell their own stories, and exercise their own creative superpowers.
And so, for Free Comic Book Day this year, we’ll be sharing This, That, and The Other Thing with all of you! The comic this year will feature our own original This, That, and The Other Thing comics, as well as comics made by kids across the country!
We’ll be raising money on GoFundMe to give away as many comics for free as possible. Look out for the GoFundMe Launch on THURSDAY! We’ll be asking all our partners and friends to share the GoFundMe link, and share their favorite stories of The Other Thing!
What are your favorite Free Comic Book Day memories. Let us know in the comments, and don’t forget to KEEP CREATING!
