Happy birthday Jerry!  Do Art Goes to Indianapolis!

Happy labor day, Do Art Nation!  Take some time this weekend to make some art. We’re looking forward to a busy fall schedule of workshops, & we can’t wait to see what we create together.

This week we celebrated Jerry’s birthday!  Jerry typically uses his birthday as an excuse to bring people together, have some fun, and DO ART!  Two years ago we celebrated by taking the Indy Popcorn by storm with his whole family. This year Jerry, Karen, & I went back to Indianapolis for the Premier Showcase, demonstrating the power and potential of Do Art to a crowd of librarians, educators, and kids.

We drove down to Indianapolis on Monday. Karen made steak and sweet potatoes, & we went to bed excited for the day to come. Tuesday we set up our booth at the showcase and watched an amazing group of artists, entertainers, and storytellers spark joy and imagination for kids and grown-ups alike. Jerry busted out the unicycle, of course, and we got to see some truly inspiring drawings.

After a summer spent crisscrossing states and time zones it was fun to catch up, share stories of creative kids and plan for the future. Jerry was particularly excited about his upcoming Art Week events, as we continue to seek deeper engagement with audiences of all ages.

So keep creating, Do Art Nation, and don’t forget to take some time to celebrate the people around you.
