Hello to everyone out there in the Do Art Nation! Hope your creative projects are going well, and that you’re taking time to bring a little bit of creativity, joy, and wacky energy to the world around you.
One of my favorite ways to bring creativity to the world around me is music. I’ve always been fascinated and captivated by the way that a few notes can turn into a song, and the way that a song can change the entire emotional atmosphere around us. I started playing the piano when I was six, using an old piano that my grandma gave to me, taking lessons from my first grade music teacher.

I took lessons and did recitals all the way through high school, but when I went away to college I became interested in other things, other creative media, and little by little I stopped playing piano. I would take it up now and again, practicing a few new songs, but for a long time it’s been something that I told myself I would get back to, but could never quite find the time.
I’ve had a little more time to myself lately, and so I decided to start playing the piano again! I decided to learn a completely new song, “Come Back to Earth” by Mac Miller, and I wanted to share it with you all. Like many awesome, bluesy songs, it has a way of taking what would seem to be sad emotions but giving them a resonance that makes the song more than just a “sad” song.
I hope you enjoy it, and I would love to know: what song should I learn next? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to keep bringing your unique creative energy to the world. Take this as a sign to re-discover an art form that you are passionate about, and take a little time to have fun with it. We will see you soon!
