What Happened at QuadCon Des Moines 2025? Inside Do Art’s Weekend of Comic Book Creativity

Hello to everyone out there in the Do Art Nation!  Hope you’re all having a great spooky season, filled with fun creative projects and WACKY energy!

Those of you who’ve been following us for a while may remember that we spent a good piece of 2023 attending comic cons all over the Midwest.  Some of my personal favorites were at malls in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota: the QUADCON circuit!  So I was super excited to return to the Merle Hay Mall in Des Moines Iowa for a weekend of comics, drawing, and fun.

And this time I brought along Jerry’s mom Ms Karen!  It’s been amazing to see her personal transformation as she embraces the power of art in her own life, and it was great to see so many kids, teens, and adults respond to Do Art’s message and embrace making art as something to bring joy and flourishing to your life.

She brought a LOT of wacky hats, and we got some truly amazing drawings in response.  We even made a comic book video on the last day, sending The Other Thing on a crazy adventure as he tried to bake a cake and accidentally created an enormous cake monster!  We’ll have the finished product on YouTube soon, along with all our other comic book creations!

We left with lots of ideas for the next comic con.  It was thrilling to reconnect with familiar faces, and see the joy in people as they brought their creative energy to an event that promotes creativity and individual expression in people of all ages.

Do you like to visit comic cons!  Share your favorite comic con memories and let us know.  Keep creating, Do Art Nation, and we will see you soon!
